Power: test question

Absolute Power Corrupts Absolutely

The way power corrupts is because the person thinks they rule everything and everyone around them. When a person has too much power it can all go to their head. Absolute Power is both in books, plays, movies and in real life. A person becomes very selfish with power. Their ambition is to gain more and more power.

How we did.

Describe the process you took to present your scene. What went well? Not so well? What would you do differently next time you had to do a scene?

In the scene I had I had to memorize my lines. We made swords that we needed to use for our scene. We did i good job at memorizing all out lines though we could of done better. We tried twice, we did better then the first time. I got stuck at some points but i managed to continue. What i would do diffeently next time is maybe put a bit more emotion into my acting.

Prediction

What will Macbeth do about Banquo?

Macbeth will end up killing everyone who he thinks is a threat to him.Banquo's sons will become kings. Macbeth also killed Banquo because he feels threatened by his morality. Macbeth had reasons to kill him, Banquo was way better than Macbeth. Banquo had courage, he was wise and because he would suspect Macbeth about the murders that been going on. In the end he did kill Banquo

weakness

Who is weaker? Macbeth or Lady Macbeth?  Why?

I believe that Macbeth is the most weak. He's weak because hes so paranoid. He suffered after killing the king. He then started seeing him and just going crazy. He has a guilty conscious. Macbeth feels bad because of the people he has killed. Karma gets back at him when his own wife dies. Power drove him to a place he should of never gone. I believe that Lady Macbeth is also weak but not as weak as Macbeth. She's weak because she didn't kill the king herself. It was her idea to kill him and speed up the witches "vision". In the end Lady Macbeth herself started becoming crazy and sleep walking feeling guilt. They are both weak but Lady Macbeth is a bit stronger because she has witch like traits.

Paranoia

Are Macbeth’s paranoia due to his own weakness or a consequence of what he did?

Macbeth's paranoia comes to him because he is both weak emotionally and its also a consequence. Since the begining he really didnt want to kill Duncan he let his wife's ambition drive him to it. You can tell he's emotionally weak because he lets guilt get to him. His paranoia is a consequence to what he did. I believe that his wife should have killed Duncan instead of Macbeth because it was her idea.

Directors

What are the factors that influence how a director presents a scene? Why do you think different directors see things so differently?

Directors have to read the play before making it into a movie. When the time comes to direct a certain scene a director can take out parts of what he read in the play or he can add things to the scene. Directors do what they think looks good in the scene and what would keep the audience entertained. Every director see things differently because everyone has a different input to how the scene should be pressented.

ambition.

Create your own argument: Whose ambition is driving this killing of Duncan, really? It is clear that neither character is telling Duncan or Banquo how they really feel, but do they tell one another?  Be sure to pick lines that show you both direct and indirect evidence for your argument.

The first person to think of killing Duncan was Lady Macbeth. Macbeth went along with his wife to kill Duncan even if he really didn't want to. Macbeth wanted to become king like the witches said that he would. Killing Duncan wasn't part of the plan. When Duncan and Banquo arrive to the Macbeth's house they are welcomed by Lady Macbeth. She started kissing up to Duncan. She was being fake to the king, lady Macbeth was saying things The king wanted to hear not knowing she really hated him. Lady Macbeth wanted to kill Duncan so that Macbeth could become King and have power. Lady Macbeth doesn't tell the kind how much she hates him because then her cover will be blown.

How do the right questions help you access text better? What difficulties did you find asking questions?

The way questions help to understand text better is because sometimes questions point things out that you didnt really understand while you were reading. Questions help a person understand the text better. When asking a question I feel the difficulty for me is asking a question that has an easy answer. Also when someone ask's the question that I had in mind.

Macbeth > Macdonwald

Why do you think the author had Macbeth win, though he wrote Fortune seemed to favor Macdonwald?  What sort of man fights like Macbeth did?

The author had MacBeth win because he's the main character. The author wanted to trick the reader as if Macdonwald was going to win but then the surprise was that MacBeth actually brutally killed Macdonwald. It was the begining of the play and the author needed to show that Macbeth is not only the main character but also very strong character. A character thats willing to do harm to others without feeling bad. If Macdonwald would have won and killed Macbeth wouldnt have not been rewarded the two titles.
